Ukraine is famous for its fertile land. The formation of chernozem in nature takes about 10 thousand years. It can be destroyed in an instant when an explosive device detonates. Most of the combat actions in our country take place precisely where the unique and highly fertile soil layer is widespread. Sulfur, which settles in the soil after an explosion, reacts with dew or fog to form sulfuric acid, which burns vegetation, bacteria, and worms - everything that forms the soil. It destroys unique ecosystems and disrupts natural processes.

Considering the losses caused by military actions not only to the infrastructure and population of Ukraine, it can be argued that Russia is committing ecocide on our territory. It will take a lot of time and specialists to clean up and restore our lands, water resources, and air. The consequences of this war will be felt by every Ukrainian for a very long time, for generations.
