SGS welcomes GICHD initiative to strengthen the capabilities of Ukrainian humanitarian demining operators
Today, SGS representatives participated in a starting meeting with miners in the area of localization project in order to strengthen the capacity of Ukrainian national humanitarian demining operators, organized by the Geneva International Humanitarian Demand Center (hereinafter Gichd).
The organizer stated that the purpose of the project is to adapt the mine activity to the Ukrainian realities by building the potential of national antique operators to carry out humanitarian demining in a safe and effective way.
To do this, after collecting and analyzing data from certified humanitarian demining operators, Ernst & Young, specialized training and trainings will be organized. This, according to Gichd, will give local operators the opportunity to compete with international operators on tenders, in particular for receiving international donor and private grants. In the future, it will help ensure organic and sustainable development of national potential and reduce dependencies on international operators.
