SGS took part in the roundtable discussion “Specifics of Law Enforcement Practice in the Field of Mine Action”

The event was organized by the Ukrainian National Association for Humanitarian Demining and the Ukrainian National Bar Association.

For SGS, as a mine action operator, this topic has not only theoretical but also practical importance. The humanitarian demining sector in Ukraine is developing actively: new laws are being adopted, amendments are being introduced to existing legislation, and resolutions and other regulatory acts are being approved — all of which directly affect the daily work of operators.

“That is why it is extremely important for us, as participants in the sector, to keep our finger on the pulse, understand the logic of legal regulation, and navigate the nuances of law enforcement practice. This affects not only the efficiency of our work, but also the quality of our interaction with state authorities, partners, communities, and other stakeholders,” SGS representatives noted.

During the roundtable, particular attention was given to the need to develop a shared understanding of the sector’s specifics among law enforcement actors, taking into account the technical aspects of demining, international standards, and the real conditions in which operations are carried out.

For SGS, participation in such dialogue is an opportunity to contribute to processes that help shape a more coordinated, professional, and effective mine action system in Ukraine.
