Science that Helps Reduce Risk to People
The SGS team attended the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Technical Development of Mine Action: Standards, Technologies, Efficiency” — an important sectoral event where science, technology, and practical experience come together around a shared goal: to make humanitarian demining safer, more precise, and more effective. The event was organized by the Ukrainian National Association for Humanitarian Demining.
For SGS, participation in such events is, above all, a search for effective scientific and technological solutions that can reduce the use of human resources in hazardous areas and expand the application of machines, mechanized systems, and modern tools that support the work of deminers.
At the same time, the reality of mine action today remains clear: people are still irreplaceable. The experience, attention, responsibility, and professional judgment of specialists remain crucial when it comes to protecting lives and clearing land from explosive ordnance.
That is why technological development in humanitarian demining is not about replacing deminers, but about strengthening their capabilities, reducing risks, and moving toward a future where as much dangerous work as possible is performed by machines rather than people.
We thank the organizers — the Ukrainian National Association for Humanitarian Demining — for creating a professional platform for dialogue, exchange of experience, and the search for solutions that bring Ukraine closer to a safer future.
