Safe restoration of agricultural lands - joint work of mine action operators and scientists of Ukraine

SGS sappers try to leave the land as clean as possible after demining. However, certain fragments of ammunition may still remain. And toxic substances from them pollute the soil. That is why the safe restoration of agricultural lands is a joint effort of mine action operators and scientists of Ukraine.

In this context, consistent assistance from Japan, which provides technical, financial and resource assistance to Ukrainian manufacturers, is very important. And within the framework of JICA programs, a grant program for the emergency recovery of the agricultural sector of Ukraine is being implemented.

Demine Ukraine announced that Ukraine received modern equipment for soil research after demining as a part of this program,. The Institute of Soil Protection of Ukraine received more than 100 units of specialized equipment for soil research and sampling within the framework of the Emergency Recovery Program of Ukraine (JICA), which is implemented by the Japanese government.

Among the items received are gas chromatographs, atomic absorption spectrometers, a tacheometric station, automatic soil samplers, generators, pickup trucks and other equipment necessary for the safe restoration of agricultural work in the de-occupied territories.

Japanese Ambassador Nakagome Masashi emphasized that the agricultural sector is the basis of any economy, and Ukraine plays a key role in global food security. Japan will continue to support Ukrainian farmers and the process of agricultural recovery. We will remind: the Japanese government is consistent

Sincere thanks to the People and Government of Japan!
